Duclos Lenses were testing some new lens caps over the weekend. To test a lens cap, they are placed on a lens and taken outside for a few hours. This allows the team to see just how stable the plastic is at different temperatures and conditions. So on Friday afternoon a Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 lens was taken outside, with lens cap on Friday afternoon. All was well until Monday morning, when Matthew Duclos realised he had forgotten to take the lens back inside. So the poor little Voigtlander had been outside all weekend, in the cold and rain. It breaks your hard, doesn’t it?

Drenched and filled with water, it was time to take the 15mm f/4.5 lens apart and see just how much damage had been done to the lens.

It’s a super geeky video, but if you have ever wondered exactly what goes on inside you camera lens, then it is an interesting 35mins. Matthew explains what he is doing,  as the lens is stripped to its components, giving a run down on each of the keys parts.
